The CCNA qualification is the way to go for Cisco training. This allows you to deal with the maintenance and installation of routers. If an employer knows what work they need doing, then all it takes is an advert for a person with the appropriate exam numbers. The syllabuses are set to meet an exact requirement and don’t change between schools (as academic syllabuses often do).

* Are you aiming to accomplish a closely held objective – for instance, being your own boss in the near future?

* What salary and timescale needs you have?

* Considering all that IT covers, it’s important to be able to absorb how they differ.

* You should also think long and hard about the level of commitment you’re going to invest in the accreditation program.

In all honesty, your only option to seek advice on these areas is via a conversation with an advisor who understands computing (and specifically the commercial needs and requirements.)

One interesting way that training providers make a lot more is via an ‚exam inclusive‘ package and offering an exam guarantee. It looks impressive, but is it really:

You’ll be charged for it ultimately. You can be assured it’s not a freebie – it’s simply been shoe-horned into the price as a whole.

It’s well known in the industry that when students fund their relevant examinations, when they’re ready to take them and not before, there’s a much better chance they’ll qualify each time – because they’ll be conscious of their investment in themselves and will therefore apply themselves appropriately.

Shouldn’t you be looking to hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you’re ready, not to pay the fees marked up by a training college, and to take it closer to home – rather than in some remote centre?

A surprising number of questionable training providers secure big margins because they’re getting paid for examinations upfront and banking on the fact that many won’t be taken.

In addition to this, you should consider what an ‚exam guarantee‘ really means. Many training companies won’t be prepared to pay again for an exam until you have demonstrated conclusively that you won’t fail again.

Average exam fees were around the 112 pounds mark in the last 12 months via local VUE or Pro-metric centres throughout the country. Therefore, why splash out often many hundreds of pounds extra to have ‚an Exam Guarantee‘, when it’s no secret that what’s really needed is consistent and systematic learning, coupled with quality exam simulation software.
